SanDisk Announces 64GB Phone Memory Card

SanDisk today raised the amount of memory you can stuff into your phone to 64GB with the release of the first 64GB MicroSDXC memory card, along with several other USB drives and storage devices. The 64GB MicroSDXC card is red and blue, unlike existing black memory cards. MicroSDXC is a new standard announced in 2009 to allow tiny memory cards to support sizes up to 2TB. This actually isn't the first 64GB card to be announced—a company called Kingmax heralded one earlier this year. We're dying to get one in and see which, if any phones can actually see this card's 64GB. It's faster than most phone and tablet memory cards, with Class 6 speeds of up to 30MB/sec. But it's the first one you'll probably be able to buy, as Kingmax's card still isn't for sale. The new card will be available next month for a whopping $219.
